Celine : "Our current world is not only warming up drastically but it is urbanizing. With the urban expansion, the social stress is becoming more visible. While the richest move higher and higher closer to the clouds, the poorest go closer to the ground and the slums grow, expanding on the city outskirts. While the city represents the hopes of better conditions, the reality is different for many.
As such the city is a representation of the society itself and a construct of it. There is a sense of urgency. Frenetic movements of populations, migrating toward the better hope - glimpses of utopian thinking - but not the reality. Time has become a commodity and, being the subjects of the global society, we are tied into the modern slavery of debt.
Within this framing, just claiming to be ourselves and of our time becomes a radical act of revolt, claiming our own rights. However, while challenging this notion of time it highlights the notion of choices, desire and decision about what kind of citizens we would like to be. We are trapped between half-choices and cannot take the time to think and look at alternative space, to stop and potentially interact with the radical steps towards ideas of cultural transition and systemic change."
