Emma : "A Viridescent Epiphyte is an organism that grows on the surface of another plant deriving nutrients and moisture from climate and surrounding debris. An organism that regards or interprets the world through itself being the most prominent, central element of existence. These sentences define near opposite life forms, undergrowth (epiphytes) and humankind.

Viridescent Epiphyte explores these opposing organisms through visible systems. The artist commodifies the key characteristics of a system – interaction, interdependence and integration to generate viridescence, becoming green.

My works were originally shown in tandem with artist and peer Matthew Rimmer's work in a blend of research to blend hypotheses, material, principles and aesthetics.

Bioremediation is the tackling of contaminated landscape and tailings through repopulating a site with native growth. But what of this change? A replica is hidden in plain sight. The carbon sink of the forest floor is seen as a literal cistern, monitored and conditioned by apparatus.

Vapour, climate, other existences shift the hierarchy from our view on objects to their synchronised coexistence looking down on us."
