Thomas : "The title of my previous exhibition was 'The Age of People Who Live With Their Heads In Boxes' which addressed the narcissistic qualities of contemporary society and the ease with which we ignore or block out the world around us and the needs of others.
This painting was construed against the backdrop of the current US Incumbent and envisions a blue-lit interrogation room with high white walls. A bound figure with their head in a box dominates the foreground, behind him is a vacant chair, while in the background a bastardised Stars and Stripes flag hangs above a grey, hooded, shrouded figure. To the side a butcher works at a piece of flesh on a table.
The painting discusses the perilous state of traditionally held democratic values, the threat of random incarceration to individuality and freedom."
