Yvonne : "I am a multidisiplined artist. I like the immersive experience that exploring materials generates. I also like to create dynamic imagery through which to communicate ideas that I am concerned and passionate about. I have a keen interest in ecology and conservation, and a concern about what human activity is doing to our planet.
My belief is that as humans we have greatly lost the capacity to empathise with nature as a whole. We have become indifferent, even desensitised. The insatiable appetite to consume has, inadvertently lead to our disconnection in understanding ourselves as part of nature. My work is informed from researching the impact of industrialisation and pesticides upon wildlife. I am particularly interested in the rising issues surrounding the ongoing exploitation of the Earths natural resources. My work aims to also draw attention to our individualised sense of tension between (abstracted) concern and a distracted sense of powerlessness in the face of global economic effects upon our planet."
