Alida : "Harrowing images of the violence of war, terror and genocide engulf our daily news coverage. The flow of violence, blood and tears just keeps coming : Genocide in Rwanda, famine in Somalia, frustrated Taliban in Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea's nuclear threat, Iraq, Israel, Yemen, self-destruction in Palestine and Lebanon.
In the reporting of these dramatic stories a picture of a mature weeping woman from Nazran (by Reuters-presse) moved me so deeply to repulsion for all these crimes against humanity and to my sympathies with all the suffering of all the victims all over the world - I cry out.
And as a result, I have responded in sculpture and poetry (below), with tears in an image which symbolizes all the suffering of all the mothers in all the wars in the world."
