Shalom (Modern Times) - by Alida Lyssens (Belgium)
This is a mixed media painting (acrylic, oil paint on canvas). 60cm x 50cm
Alida : "The work is part of a tryptic, which wants to protest war and violence and thus calls for peace. Its colours are symbolic : the earth's earth, red of blood, gray of sorrow and white for peace.
It's a never ending story: religious wars, ethnic disputes, genocide, discrimination, hunger and violence ... but there is also a powerful opposition of peacekeepers who condemn violence, blame injustice, no walls between people, no nuclear weapons, no war but pursuing for peace and I want to support that with the full commitment of my creativity."
